Million-Dollar Ironman

AS MANY OF YOUR NOW KNOW, I am training to break the 9-hour barrier at the Hawaii Ironman -– to honor, and to raise funds, for marginalized women and girls around the world through the work of CARE.

A friend recently sent me a video that took my already fierce dedication to CARE to another level. It has transformed my quest to raise at least $1 million for CARE from a “want” to a “need.”

That video is antithetical to everything I hold dear as a father…everything noble and dignified and important about the father-daughter relationship. Until we all do something to end this injustice, it makes a mockery of the notion that we value all life equally. It is an image I cannot forget and will not forget. It is a girl who does not know me, but who has given me great strength and resolve to train and compete on her behalf – and on behalf of girls like her around the world.

Log on to http://firstgiving.com/ericharr. It is not the amount that matters. Just search your heart, make a donation – however small – and leave a comment. Every act you take inspires others and echoes through history – and your taking part will make a bigger difference than you know. Also, would you kindly pass this link on to at least five acquaintances with whom this cause might resonate?

Finally, I would like to extend a very special thanks to a very special man who holds a dear place in my heart: Dr. Jack J. Singh, founder and CEO of ORGANIC FOOD BAR, the #1 selling organic bar in the world. Thank you, Jack, for everything you do for me -- and for the health of our world.

A warm thanks for your support.
